Sea snakes are venomous elapid snakes found in coastal waters from the Indian Ocean to the western Pacific and are closely related to venomous snakes in Australia. They are among the most completely aquatic of all air-breathing vertebrates. Although poisonous most are mild-tempered, using their venom mostly to immobilize prey.
